The OnePlus 6 was launched in May 2018, around the official Google I/O 2018, that brought the Android 9.0 Pie. It was announced that OnePlus is a partner manufacturer and it will be one of the first devices to be updated to Android Pie. The OnePlus team has worked around several beta updates that were released for the upcoming Android Pie and it seems like OnePlus will finally roll out the next Android version encased in its new OxygenOS 9. The update will be sent out via OTA to all OnePlus 6 devices, after the initial incremental update, which is only rolled out to a few users first to check if any bugs exist.

To put things into context, it usually takes months for manufacturers to tweak and roll out new Android updates but OnePlus has been true to its motive to roll out updates within weeks and that too in older devices as well since even the two-year-old OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will receive the update in coming weeks.
