We have seen from a long time that Oppo has pioneered the art of fast charging on smartphones and they are also the company that keeps on “reinventing the wheel” as they say in this department. For example, we earlier saw that Oppo came up with 30W wired fast charging that was unheard of at that time.

Later, OnePlus provided it with their phones and 30W wired fast charging has now become a standard. But Oppo is onto something different because the company has just announced its 125W fast charging solution which is wired of course.

Oppo says that its 125W fast charging takes just 20 minutes to fully charge a phone having 4000 mAh battery from a completely dead state. If the claim is true then Oppo has just beaten themselves with a new record as they claimed to fully charge a phone in 30 minutes earlier.

Not only that, but we have also seen that OnePlus phones tend to give you “a day’s power in half an hour” which is just above 50% in 30 minutes. What if we told you that you can get 41% charge in just 5 minutes. Yes, Oppo claims to achieve the same with the help of its 125W flash charge.

If this was not enough, Oppo has innovated in the wireless fast charging department too. For years we have heard that wireless charging is slow and while convenient, you need to use a wired charger for fast charging. Well, Oppo would not agree because they have announced a 65W wireless fast charging solution known as “Oppo AirVOOC”.

With the Oppo 65W AirVOOC, you can get 100% charge on a 4000 mAh battery in just 31 minutes. Most phones don’t offer such fast charging even on wired medium so wireless is unheard of. However, we should not get too excited yet because this is an “announcement” from Oppo and not a launch.

Having said that, Oppo does have a reputation of announcing its technology first and then the phones that will feature this technology so we are not too far away from that. If everything goes as per plan, we can see an Oppo device with 125W wired as well as 65W wireless charging as soon as the end of this year.

The company also used its wired and wireless charging tech announcement to announce a few compact GaN-based chargers as well. To sum up GaN or Gallium Nitride technology, they are much more compact than standard power bricks while providing the same power. Oppo’s GaN-based chargers are a 50W mini SuperVOOC charger and a 110W mini flash charger, both of which have a size of the business card holder and regular 18W adapter respectively.
