Oppo unveiled its Reno 3 smartphone in the month of December last year. Although most of the markets did not get to see the Oppo Reno 3, the Chinese tech giant is all set to unveil its successor Reno 4 series of smartphones. We already know a lot more about this series than the design of the smartphones or it’s key specifications, courtesy of leaks and official confirmations. Recently, the Oppo Reno 4 was spotted on TENAA along with all the specifications, and Oppo on their official Weibo handle has announced the launch date for this series in China.
The Reno series by Oppo is of one the quickest smartphone series out there. This series was started in early 2019 and currently Reno series is standing at its fourth generation. The company takes the Reno series very seriously and it just sits below the flagship Find series. As mentioned earlier, recently Oppo has confirmed the launch date of the device. The launch event will be taken place in China on June 5th, 2020.
The Oppo Reno 4 first leaked in a live image on Weibo. By looking at the live image we could that Reno 4 had a revamped back design. The leaked image also shows the name of the device. The image was shared by tipster itechnology on Weibo. The image confirmed that the Oppo Reno 4 will have four cameras on the back of the device accompanied by a flashlight. At first glance, this appears like a triple rear camera setup, but if observed closely, the fourth sensor is placed on the right side of the third sensor.
The Reno 4 series will come with a curved display on both variants. This is the first time Oppo has gone with the curved displays for the Reno series. Both the devices are expected to come with 5G support out of the box. Although the previously leaked live images confirmed that the series only comes in black and white colors, other reports suggest that the series will also arrive in Crystal Diamond Blue and Purple Taro color options. The back panel also has a large-sized Reno Glow branding which looks strange. The Oppo branding is found on the top right corner which is considerably smaller than Reno Glow branding.

As for the TENAA listing, two models have been spotted namely PDPM000 and PDNM00. Both the models are very similar in terms of dimensions as Reno 4 measures 159.3 x 74.0 x 7.8 mm whereas the Reno 4 Pro on the other hand measures 159.6 x 72.5 x 7.6 mm. Although the TENAA listing does not mention the chipsets of these devices, a tipster on Weibo claimed that Reno 4 series will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC. Also, Oppo has already confirmed support for 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 for the Reno series which was only reserved for the flagship Ace and Find series. Talking about the cameras, this is where things get confusing. Although we can clearly see the presence of the fourth sensor right next to the third one, most of the reports and listings suggest only the specifications of the three cameras.
Both the devices are said to have the same 48 MP primary sensors. The Reno 4 packs in an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and 2 MP monochrome portrait lens whereas the Reno 4 Pro has a 12 MP dedicated low-light camera accompanied by 13 MP telephoto lens. These specifications are kind of hard to believe as both the devices are either missing out on the telephoto or ultra-wide sensor. Again, both the device’s origin with the same 32 MP shooter for selfies. The secondary unit on the Reno 4 is the depth sensor.
