Soon, an upcoming Oppo device could be powered by a blazing fast 240W charging tech onboard. This information comes from a Chinese leakster who mentioned that a Chinese smartphone maker is testing out 240W fast charging tech. Although the leakster didn’t reveal Oppo’s name, given the fact that its sister company’s sub-brand has already released a 200W fast charging tech, it is only logical that it’s Oppo that the leakster is referring to. Read ahead to know more.

Oppo could be working on a 240W fast charging tech

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, a Chinese smartphone maker is working on a 24V, 10A charging adapter that can effectively charge a smartphone at 240W charging speeds. Although the leakster didn’t reveal the company’s name, it is highly believed that he is talking about Oppo who also showcased a 240W fast-charging tech in the works earlier this year.

Oppo belongs to BBK Electronics which is one of the largest smartphone makers in the world. Oppo’s sister brand Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO already has a 200W fast-charging tech in the market onboard iQOO 10 Pro which takes a mere 12 minutes to charge its battery from 0 to 100%. According to the leak, Oppo’s upcoming 240W fast charging tech effectively charges the battery with an improvement of 20%.

To further add to it, the tech would take a measly nine minutes to juice up a 4,500mAh battery from 0 to 100% as showcased during the February 2022 teaser from Oppo. For context, Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge comes with a 120W and takes 15 minutes to charge a 4,500mAh battery.

Although it remains a mystery exactly when we could see the 240W charging tech available in the market, there are some safety concerns with the tech. As charging technology is improving manifold, the chances of the battery getting toasted have magnified. Apart from that, the longevity of a battery is reportedly sinking due to high charging speeds which affects the overall life cycles a battery is made for. However, some experts do believe it’s not just the charging speed but the overall tech has evolved over the years thereby curbing the issues around the safety and longevity of the battery.

Although the dates when the Oppo 240W fast charging tech is due are unavailable, we are hoping that the technology will arrive soon but take it with a pinch of salt.
