The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo is about to release its next Oppo R17 flagship smartphone and listed the dummy price of CNY99,999 on its official website but today, it officially declared the price of its 128GB/8GB variant at CNY3,499 which is nearly 450 Euros or $510 setting another example for bigwigs such as Apple and Samsung by featuring an innovative smartphone at half the price.
The Oppo R17 will sport a waterdrop screen design with 6.4” AMOLED display with 1080 x 2280 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 19:9. Oppo revealed the official price of its Oppo R17 on Oppo Shop, Tmall, Suning, and JD.com and other major Chinese retailers. The phone will be released on August 23 and will go on sale on August 30. The smartphone will open to pre-orders and reservations on August 23 itself, although the smartphones will be delivered as per the shipment received.
Oppo R17 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 SoC with octa-core processor and Adreno 615 GPU. It will be backed by massive 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage that can be expanded with a hybrid slot up to 256GB. The smartphone has a vertically placed 16+20MP rear sensor with an aperture of f/1.7 and pixel size of 1.22micrometer and 1.0micrometer with PDAF respectively and a dual-LED flash that sums up to a great picture quality. On the front, it hosts a beautiful 25MP sensor with an aperture of f/2.0 in a tiny teardrop-shaped notch. Oppo R17 is expected to be the precursor to the upcoming OnePlus 6T that will too host a teardrop-shaped notch instead of an iPhone X-styled notch.
What’s more? The Oppo R17 has a light-sensitive in-display fingerprint scanner that works pretty darn well even after the screen is heavily used and stretched. Other sensors include a compass, proximity, gyro, accelerometer, etc. The smartphone will have a non-removable 3,500 mAh Li-Po battery with Oppo’s new VOOC Flash Charge 5V/4A that charges the battery life up to 2 hours in just 5 minutes. It also corresponds to OnePlus Warp Charger.
Oppo R17 will be available in two shiny colors i.e. Streamer Blue and Neon Purple much like Vivo NEX S which had a front and back glass with a mesmerizing color palette which is truly one of its USP where the color changes based on the ambient lighting. It is believed to have a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 which was recently released and can withstand up to 20 drops from a height of 1meter, 1.2meter, and even 1.8meter when tested.
