Realme GT5 Pro, the company’s flagship model, debuted with a periscope telephoto camera in early December. This launch marked Realme’s first foray into periscope telephoto technology since the Realme X3 SuperZoom in May 2020. However, the GT5 Pro was initially exclusive to China, leaving global consumers awaiting its international debut. Yet, there’s a glimmer of hope. A recent teaser from Realme India hints at the arrival of a periscope camera-equipped phone in the Indian and global markets.

Realme Teases a Periscope Camera

On X (previously known as Twitter), Realme India’s handle posted a teaser with the tagline “It’s Out! #NoPeriscope. NoFlagship.” This teaser hints at an upcoming smartphone poised to introduce periscope telephoto technology to Indian shores. While the teaser stops short of revealing the phone’s name, speculation suggests it could be the Realme 12 Pro+ or perhaps the global version of the Realme GT5 Pro.

The Realme GT5 Pro features a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with an f/1.7 aperture and 2.7x optical zoom, complemented by OIS. Additionally, it boasts a 50MP dual-pixel OIS 23mm primary sensor and an 8MP f/2.2 16mm ultrawide sensor with a 112° field of view.

Is It the Realme 12 Pro+?

Leakster Abhishek Yadav recently hinted that the teased device might indeed be the Realme 12 Pro+. Expected in January or February 2024, it’s anticipated to feature a Snapdragon 7 series chipset, likely the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC. The phone’s recent BIS certification also points to an imminent Indian launch.

Realme 11 Pro+ Specifications: A Look Back

The Realme 11 Pro+, predecessor to the speculated Realme 12 Pro+, was released in India with a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC, a 200MP triple rear camera setup, and a robust 5,000mAh battery, retailing at INR 27,999. Given the expected advancements, including the periscope lens and the rumored Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, a slight increase in the upcoming model’s price wouldn’t be surprising.
