Last year, reports about the Redmi gaming tablet were making rounds in the rumor mill, according to a popular tipster. Now, he is back with another update, and this time, the tablet has reportedly picked up the Dimensity 9400+ SoC. If true, we might see the Redmi gaming tablet delivering serious performance under the hood.
Redmi Gaming Tablet Gains Dimensity 9400+ SoC, Rivaling Snapdragon 8 Elite
According to Digital Chat Station (DCS) via Weibo, Redmi’s gaming tablet will feature the Dimensity 9400+ SoC. For those unaware, the Dimensity 9400 is currently MediaTek’s flagship chipset, offering performance similar to the Snapdragon 8 Elite. With the Dimensity 9400+, we expect an overclocked variant, possibly on par with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Plus (or 8+ Elite), which could arrive later this year.
Keeping the chipset in mind, we expect Redmi’s gaming tablet to debut sometime in early Q3 2025. Earlier reports suggested a Q1 2025 launch with a flagship Snapdragon SoC, but both aspects now seem unlikely. The Xiaomi Redmi K80 Ultra could launch alongside the Redmi gaming tablet, though we recommend taking this information with a pinch of salt.
Another leak suggests that Xiaomi could integrate dual X-axis linear motors into the gaming tablet for improved haptic feedback. A dual-speaker setup and dual USB-C ports would further enhance the user experience, especially considering this is a gaming tablet rather than a regular one.
Apart from the chipset, DCS mentioned that the gaming tablet could feature an 8.8-inch LCD panel and a compact form factor, possibly with reduced bezels. It is expected to be similar in size to the 2025 Lenovo Legion, though an ultra-thin and lightweight metal unibody might give Redmi’s gaming tablet an edge. We could see a 120Hz or even 144Hz refresh rate, but nothing is set in stone at the time of writing.
Some other devices expected to debut with the Dimensity 9400+ SoC include the iQOO Neo 10s, Oppo Find X8s, and Vivo X200s, among others.
