Apple made an impressive design revamp back in 2017 after its iPhone X launch that was followed in 2018 with iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR in 2018. But a recent render released by @OnLeaks could propel a new design for its upcoming iPhones 2019 projected to launch sometime in September 2019 that will definitely raise the bar of well-designed iPhones. By looking at the render, it could pack in a revamped triple-camera setup at the back with a ToF sensor and a glass-based design.

The video render leaked by OnLeaks shows a prototype or more precisely, an Engineering Validation Test (EVT) stage iPhone 2019 featuring quite a few resonating and revamped design that Apple could propel later this year. Also, Apple faced a horrendous 12% dip in sales figures in December 2018 after it scores less-than-expected sales for the 2018 trio.

Render for iPhone 2019 appears with triple-camera with ToF sensor

About the iPhones 2019 renders based on previous rumors, it will feature a triple-camera setup at the back. It will although include a much-advanced photography sensor but there are three cameras that will be housed in a 2×2 square aligned on the left side of the back panel. Out of which, two cameras are arranged in iPhone X-like vertical setup which there is a third camera aligned in a next column but right in the middle of the dual sensors along with a dual flash LED and a microphone.

The third sensor is probably a ToF or Time of Flight sensor that was teased in a Bloomberg report which usage 3D ToF technology that shoots laser pulses towards objects to map out a 3D model of the surrounding even in a completely dark room. This makes it ideal as a key component for enthralling VR and AR where the latter is among the few key technologies that Apple has been investing in R&D a lot.

The ToF sensor is essentially a revolutionary technology that focuses on objects and creates 3D models simply by projecting laser pulses towards the object measuring the distance taken to return. According to Digit, Sony is expected to supply the ToF sensors for Apple for both front and rear-facing cameras and will ramp up the production to satisfy the surge in sales that Apple attracts every year making it the second largest smartphone manufacturer in terms of units shipped although the year ‘2018’ has been little baffling for Apple as Chinese OEM Huawei overtook the sales record by shipping more than 200mn units in 2018.

As of now, the render is possible for an EVT model and things could change over time since the next iPhone launch is probably nine months away from today as Apple usually holds launch events in September each year.
