First of all, I would like to thank the developers of Nine for the possibility to review this app. So, let me answer the question if it’s worth it.
Compatibility
This email app is only compatible with Exchange Server 2003 SP2/SP3 and above, Office 365, Outlook.com and Gmail if you use a Google apps account to login for Gmail.
Design
This is something I loved from the beginning, I almost played for 2 hours to get it just right for my taste, with all the different color options. And, something that’s really useful for me is the dark mode, so I don’t burn my eyes when I’m reading my emails starting at 7AM. And, if we’re talking about Material Design, I think they’ve one of the best implementations next to all the Google apps. Furthermore, the design has some nice and smooth animations included to make it look even better.
Settings
Thing was really something new for me, as it was the first app which was so customizable. And, at some point it may even get overly complicated. Something I hope they can fix in the future with a better settings structure. And, although I’m not a heavy email user, I can say that all the features needed are included inside this app.
How about just the emails?
This may even be the most boring part of the app; it is like the opposite of the design. It works great, I’ve got nothing to say about that. As soon as you open the email, it’s shown like a messaging app, and with one click you can read the reply or your own email. But, there’s no way to read every part of the conversation at once. So, let’s look at the notifications. I can say that I never missed an email, it gives you the first part of your email, so you can see the topic right away. This is amazing for an email application, and it actually shouldn’t be different in any other app.
Battery usage
Over the past month / month and a half I never saw this app showing up into my battery stats. Although, it may differ for every user because everyone uses the app in a different way. One thing that’s sure is that it won’t eat your battery out of the box.
Should you get this app?
It’s a bit difficult for me to answer this question, as it’s really personally related. Do you want to pay $10 for an email app that can for a lot of people do just the same thing, and that’s receiving emails. Or, are you just like me looking for an amazing looking email app, with tons of features included? Before you buy it, you may want to head over to the Play Store to try the app before paying $10.
