  • Samsung is in talks with Perplexity AI to integrate in on-board Galaxy devices.
  • It could mean Samsung might or might not ditch Google Gemini AI from the equation.
  • The talks are still in their early stages so expect changes in the ordeal where Samsung could rope in both Gemini and Perplexity AI as options on-board.

Looks like Perplexity AI is setting its sights on one of the world’s leading smartphone maker, Samsung, in a bold move that could see it replacing Google Gemini as the primary AI assistant on Galaxy devices. The Samsung and Perplexity AI partnership is still in the early stages, but if it concludes, it could significantly influence the AI trend on mobile.

Samsung and Perplexity AI Partnership Could Mean Gemini is Going Out

According to a report from Bloomberg, Samsung is currently in discussions with Perplexity AI, a reputable AI startup competing with both Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Perplexity is looking to tap into Samsung’s massive global market share, which makes this potential collaboration highly strategic.

However, the talks at Samsung are still in their early stages, meaning we will have to wait for some time before getting an AI shift. Moreover, almost all AI features on-board Galaxy phones are backed by Google’s Gemini, making it a bit more complicated before the South Korean giant decides to move to Perplexity AI for a change.

On the other hand, we have already learned Perplexity has already signed a deal with Motorola, with the announcement coming on April 24. Although the sources wanted to be unidentified, it is a major win for Perplexity AI as it ventures on the realm of smartphones with Samsung being its major win, just in case.

It remains to be seen if Samsung will opt for Perplexity AI as the sole AI assistant pre-baked on its phones, or if it will give users both Gemini and Perplexity AI as options to choose their assistant from.  For now, we know that both the tech giants have been formulating a partnership for a few months now, and we could see something popping up real soon.

There’s no public announcement yet, though let’s keep our fingers crossed and wait for something concrete to arrive.
