We have been witnessing quite a lot of leaks and speculations around the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition for some time now. This upcoming device from the South Korean giant is said to offer a flagship experience at not so flagship price. It was supposed to be a legit deal in several markets as the device is expected to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. But, things are turning out a bit gloomy on that front, as a Samsung device with SM-G780F model number as appeared online with Exynos 990.

Samsung S20 Fan Edition Firmware Development is Also Started As Earlier Posted By @_the_tech_guy https://t.co/iz4B1QP2tf pic.twitter.com/zuvHMQ8zRJ— Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) August 13, 2020
The information comes to us from an alleged Geekbench listing of the Galaxy Note 20 Fan Edition. Releasing the same device with different SoC’s is not a new thing with Samsung and it looks like it is going to be the same story with the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition too. This is not totally bad news but, given the performance variance between the Exynos 990 and Snapdragon 865, it would be an attractive deal if powered by the Snapdragon SoC.
If you really think through, the decision here is understandable to use the Exynos 990 on the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition. For starters, given the price tag of $750 which outperforms not one but two flagships from the company that cost twice as much. Also, the Galaxy S20 series was not sold heavily and Samsung might have struck with a lot of unused Exynos chipsets this year.
As of now, there is no official word from Samsung about the Galaxy S20 Fan edition yet. But going by the rumors we can expect this device to arrive during the last quarter this year. The image render of the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition was leaked a while back revealing the Infinity-O display with a diagonal between 6.5 to 6.7-inches and 120 Hz display refresh rate. We don’t have any idea about how the back of the device looks like, but going by the S20 and Note 20 series back, we can expect a huge camera block here too.
As for the cameras, the device is said to accommodate a triple rear camera setup on the rear which comprises of a 12 MP primary sensor, 12 MP ultrawide sensor, and an 8 MP telephoto unit. We can expect the device to come with IP68 dust and water resistance. All this could be backed by a 4,500 mAh battery.
