Here’s something important if you own a Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung just pushed a fresh update, and it’s called the One UI 8 Watch update. I got it on my device recently and thought I’d quickly break down what’s changed, what’s new, and honestly, whether it even matters.
At first glance, this update is based on Google’s Wear OS 6, and yeah, it’s a bit heavy — around 1.9GB. But once it’s installed, the whole watch kinda feels different.

A simpler UI, finally
Let me be honest, before this, the UI felt a bit… clunky. After the One UI 8 Watch update, it’s just smoother. Samsung has cleaned up the interface. You’ll see these new Multi-Info Tiles that basically let you view more stuff without swiping all over the place. It saves time.
They also added something called the Now Bar. It was on their phones before, now it’s on the watch. It just shows quick access stuff at the bottom. Not a huge thing, but it’s handy. The menus feel easier to use now. I noticed I don’t tap around aimlessly anymore.
The health features got smarter
This is probably the part most people will care about. The health tracking got an actual upgrade. There’s a new thing called the Antioxidant Index. It tracks how your body’s handling stress. I’m still not sure how much I trust it, but it’s there.
Then there’s Bedtime Guidance. Basically it helps with sleep tracking, and it’s a bit more accurate now. I tested it over 2 nights, and it picked up my sleep interruptions better than before.
Vascular Load is another new term they’ve thrown in. It tracks your heart’s workload over time. Again, more info is always better I guess.
And yeah, for runners, the Running Coach now gives real-time feedback. I tried it once, and it actually told me to slow down because I was over-pacing. Pretty cool.
Who’s getting the update and when
I got it in India, and from what I saw online, it’s also available in the US and a few other countries. As I said earlier, it’s around 1.9 GB, so be ready for a longer download. It also comes with the May 2025 security patch.
If you’re using older watches like the Galaxy Watch 6 or 7, the update’s not out yet, but Samsung said they’ll roll it out soon. Also, the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic will come with this One UI 8 Watch version out of the box.
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra with One UI 8 Watch update is a pretty decent one. The UI got cleaner, health tracking got smarter, and it just feels more stable overall.
Is it a must-have? If you’ve got the Watch Ultra, yeah — no reason to skip it. It doesn’t drastically change the device, but it does improve it in useful ways.
That’s pretty much it. If you updated already, let us know if you discovered anything else.
