Waiting for Samsung Project Moohan — the first Android XR headset? Well, you have to wait a few more days. Initially rumored to launch on September 29, the launch has been delayed to October 21, or I would say, three weeks from today. Here’s what the latest update says about the upcoming XR headset.

Samsung Project Moohan XR headsets get a new launch date

Samsung is working on the first-ever Android XR headset dubbed Project Moohan and may be launched as Galaxy XR. The device was expected to launch on September 29, and since we are already in October, it’s a no-brainer that it didn’t go through. Samsung has reportedly delayed the launch to October 21, but the pre-registrations for the headset commence on October 15.

Well, this isn’t for everyone, though, as these timelines apply only to South Korea. In fact, the Project Moohan (or Galaxy XR) headset is expected to be available in the home country initially before gradually pushing to other markets. Stay tuned as we bring a lot of information on Samsung Project Moohan as it prepares for its imminent launch.

Talking about the specs, Samsung’s Project Moohan is developed by Samsung, Google, and Qualcomm. It runs on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset under the hood, and the Android XR takes care of the software processing. Based on previous claims, Samsung Project Moohan is expected to fetch a price tag between KRW2,500,00 (USD1,785) to KRW4,000,000 (USD2,855) in its home country, with the aim to ship 100K units. Samsung could adjust the supply based on its demand at a later stage.

Samsung Project Moohan XR headset was recently spotted at the Galaxy Unpacked event in February 2025, when the Galaxy S25 series was introduced. However, no one was able to touch or use the device, and it was purely for display. It resembles that of Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest Pro. It brings a bunch of cameras under its glass, tasked with sensing its users and triggering actions accordingly.

Watch out this space for more on the Samsung Project Moohan headset, aka Galaxy XR, as it drops by in the coming days.
