Samsung seems to be opening more about the Samsung tri-fold smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy G Fold. Apparently, the phone is likely due to launch by the end of this year, as per TM Roh, Samsung’s acting head of device experience. Please find out more about it in the story here.
Samsung Tri-Fold Smartphone in the Works
According to a report by Android Authority, Samsung’s TM Roh was quoted saying they are ‘working hard on a trifold smartphone’ and it will be released by the end of this year. The report further reads Samsung is perfecting the device in terms of product and its usability. There’s no official name yet, and they will be deciding on the moniker soon.
Although Roh didn’t divulge any information, it doesn’t mean we don’t know anything yet. We know that the Samsung tri-fold smartphone might be dubbed the Samsung Galaxy G Fold (read, the OG).
Samsung upped its foldable game with Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE launched just a day ago. In fact, Z Fold7 has reached a level at which, you can call it one of the slimmest foldable phones ever at 8.9mm when folded. It is around the same lines as Oppo Find N5 and Honor Magic V5.
It shows that the South Korean giant has come a long way since its original fold was launched in 2019. Although Samsung won’t be the first to launch a tri-fold phone, an honor reserved by Huawei Mate XT, its tri-fold smartphone is still much awaited.
When it comes to the pricing, Samsung tri-fold smartphone won’t be a cheap purchase. The Galaxy Z Fold7 retails for $1,800 and it’s a dual-fold phone. The Mate XT from Huawei, a triple-fold smartphone, retails for $2,800 so you can expect pricing in the similar lines for sure.
