Samsung has been working on its next-generation foldable smartphones. We already have seen two different generations of Samsung’s foldable smartphones. Those were the initial models of the tech, so Samsung as well as consumers didn’t expect that much from it. But the third-gen foldable smartphone may get some impressions in the market. Reports say Samsung is working on three different models of foldable smartphones for next year and one of them could be a much affordable smartphone, maybe be Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Lite.

The latest report from UBI (via The Elec) suggests that Samsung could launch all three models by the 2021 Q1. The three models include the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 2. The third one is the most affordable and lite variant, i.e., Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Lite (most probably).

Speaking of the Samsung Galaxy Fold Lite, it will be unveiled by the first quarter of the year 2021, possibly alongside the Galaxy S21 series or during a separate Galaxy Unpacked event. Earlier this year in May, other rumors also pointed to a Galaxy Fold with a more “affordable” price.

According to the source, the Galaxy Z Fold Lite will accompany a 7-inch flexible screen with clear polyimide film (CPI) rather than ultra-thin glass (UTG). Diagonally, the external screen is supposed to be 4 inches. The UBI Research report also claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will accompany an under-display front camera and offer S Pen support. Other reports claim that an LTPO screen tech might be used by Samsung on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 for better power efficiency.

Further, it’ll have a 7-inch foldable display on the within, and a 4-inch cover screen. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Lite will offer an equivalent display configuration (probably without the under-display camera tech) paired with cheaper internals to realize a lower cost point.

Multiple recent reports have acknowledged that Samsung is ditching the Galaxy Note line in favor of more foldable phones. That said, nobody can predict what Samsung finally decides to try to do in 2021. albeit the corporate has plans to launch three foldable phones immediately, it could alright switch strategies per market conditions.
