Qualcomm has officially launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform, calling it the world’s fastest mobile system-on-a-chip (SoC). This new flagship processor offers major performance improvements, better on-device AI features, and notable capabilities for gaming, creativity, and productivity.
Performance benchmarks
At the core of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the 3rd Gen Qualcomm Oryon CPU, which delivers a 20% performance increase over the previous version, as stated by Qualcomm. The platform also includes a redesigned Qualcomm Adreno GPU that improves graphics rendering by 23%, making it excellent for mobile gaming and applications that use a lot of graphics.
For AI tasks, the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU gives a 37% performance boost, allowing for faster and more efficient running of generative AI and multimodal applications on the device itself.
