Qualcomm has officially launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 mobile platform, calling it the world’s fastest mobile system-on-a-chip (SoC). At the core of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is the 3rd Gen Qualcomm Oryon CPU, which delivers a 20% performance increase over the previous version, as stated by Qualcomm. The platform also includes a redesigned Qualcomm Adreno GPU that improves graphics rendering by 23%, making it excellent for mobile gaming and applications that use a lot of graphics.

For AI tasks, the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU gives a 37% performance boost, allowing for faster and more efficient running of generative AI and multimodal applications on the device itself. Qualcomm stressed that these improvements balance speed with power efficiency, which supports longer battery life during demanding uses like gaming and content creation.
