- Qualcomm officially confirmed the event dates during COMPUTEX 2025, marking an earlier timeline compared to previous years.
- The successor to the Snapdragon X Elite PC chipset will debut, promising improved performance and efficiency for Windows on ARM devices.
- Built on TSMC’s advanced N3P process, the new SM8850 chip will feature major GPU upgrades and support high-end smartphones.
During the COMPUTEX 2025 keynote in Taipei, Qualcomm President and CEO Cristiano Amon announced officially that Snapdragon Summit 2025 will take place from September 23 to September 25. The eighth-annual event will be held around one month prior to last year’s summit.
The annual Snapdragon Summit serves as Qualcomm’s premier platform for unveiling its latest mobile and PC platforms. This year, the company is expected to introduce major advancements in both its Snapdragon X Series for PCs and Snapdragon 8 Series for smartphones.
Snapdragon X Elite successor to debut
Amon confirmed that Qualcomm will unveil the next-generation Snapdragon X Series, which includes the successor to the Snapdragon X Elite. Originally introduced in 2023, the X Elite platform marked Qualcomm’s significant push into Windows on ARM devices, which offers competitive performance and efficiency with its custom-built Oryon CPU core.
The next generation is slated to bring better AI acceleration, enhanced multithread performance, and improved power efficiency, three areas of concern for Qualcomm as it competes with Apple Silicon and Intel’s Meteor Lake processors in the next generation of AI-enabled PCs.

Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 to power next-gen flagship smartphones
Alongside its PC innovations, Qualcomm is also set to debut the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2,the model number SM8850. This next-generation mobile chipset will serve as the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite, both of which featured Qualcomm’s Oryon CPU architecture for the first time in smartphones.
According to Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will be manufactured using TSMC’s 3 nm N3P process and will provide dramatic improvements in GPU performance, thermal efficiency, and battery life. This enhanced GPU performance is expected to support growing demands in mobile gaming, AI, and multimedia workloads.
Flagship devices to launch shortly after the summit
The first wave of smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to launch by the end of September 2025. Key manufacturers reportedly lined up to release devices include:
- Xiaomi 16 series
- iQOO 14
- OnePlus 15
- HONOR Magic8 series
