Rumors around Sony PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro) have been brewing for quite some time now. Turns out we now have another set of rumors around the same lines. According to Insider Gaming, the Sony PS5 Pro is in development and will be launched in late 2024. It will be a beefier version than the base PS5 similar to how PS4 Pro was to PS4.
The report claims that Sony is expected to launch the PS5 Pro sometime in late 2024. It’s just a tentative date but does take it with a pinch of salt as it’s not coming from an official source at the moment. What PS5 Pro will bring onboard remains a mystery. It will though bring better performance and visuals than the base PS5, it is unclear what will be the specifications to assert that report as of now.
Mark Cerny (PlayStation architect) published a patent for the upcoming console that suggests better ray tracing performance in games. Ray tracing is a complex rendering technique that gives lighting effects in games a much more natural and depth view that looks as close as how light would imitate in real life.
There’s also a statement that says, PS6 won’t arrive until 2028. If that’s true, I would say that it makes sense to release the PS5 Pro at the least. However, the world is already facing chip shortages, and releasing a new version of the gaming console would further stress the supply chain. It remains to be seen if these are just rumors or something we could expect from Sony.
According to 91Mobiles, PS5 Pro is expected to arrive with a 2160p resolution with games rendered in 8K as well as 120FPS. There’s an AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT GPU equivalent under the hood. Apart from that, we could expect well-refined ray tracing techniques, reconstruction techniques, and so on. This particular bit of information was shared by TCL Technology at a press event last year. It even pointed out a new Xbox Series X/S releasing in 2024 as well.
