The Tecno Spark 7 series was a huge success and to celebrate it and take the series further, Tecno Mobile has released the Tecno Spark 8 in Nigeria. Powered by an Helio P22 chipset, the device was silently unveiled and it is awaiting its launch in other countries soon.

The Tecno Spark 8 brings on-board a 6.5-inch IPS LCD HD+ panel with a resolution of 1600×720 pixels. The display has a waterdrop-shaped notch on top that houses an 8MP sensor. The rear panel has since been quite a humongous change as the camera bump is extended twice the size that it would need to house its triple camera setup.

The rear camera assembly houses a 16MP snapper with QVGA secondary lens making it a dual camera setup while as said, the camera bump includes an oval-shaped rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and there’s still a huge space between the camera module and the fingerprint sensor.

Talking about the rig under the hood, Tecno Spark 8 arrives with a MediaTek Helio P22 SoC paired with 64GB storage and 2GB RAM. It runs on Android 11 Go-powered HiOS 7.6 as its software. There’s a 5,000 mAh battery under the chassis supplied with 10W charging tech and a micro-USB port on the bottom side.

Finally, the pricing revealed by Tecno for the Spark 8 in Nigeria is NGN 55,000 which is loosely $130.

The phone surely brings a few changes over the last-gen Tecno Spark 7 which had an Helio A25 SoC under the hood. Other specifications include a 6.5-inch IPS LCD HD+ panel, 32/64GB storage and 2/3GB RAM, 16MP+QVGA rear camera, and an 8MP front camera setup. A 6,000 mAh battery (international) while the African variant had a 5,000 mAh battery. By looking at the specs sheet, not much has changed with Tecno Spark 8 apart from the chipset.

Post-launch in Nigeria, you will have to wait for its Indian or global launch to get your hands on the budget-grade entry-level smartphone.
