By now, you all must be knowing that OnePlus is about to launch its next flagship really soon. In line with that, it seemed that the OnePlus discontinued its last flagship – the OnePlus 3T. It went out of stock on many of the official stores worldwide, while some of them mention it to be discontinued.
Not the entire OnePlus 3T series has been mentioned as discontinued, but only the 128GB variant in Gunmetal Grey mentions it. Meanwhile, the phone is discontinued on the Indian OnePlus store only, most of the other stores say “sold out”.
9to5Google has a theory for the discontinuation. According to the publication, the 128GB model of the OnePlus 3T uses Samsung UFS 2.0 storage module. Samsung has stopped producing the module and OnePlus was left with two choices – use the second-best option or kill the phone model completely. OnePlus went for the latter.
Some other see it as clearing of old stocks and making way for the new OnePlus 5.
Both the theories turned out to be false and the company has confirmed that the phone is just out of stock and will be available soon. The Indian OnePlus store was still showing the phone as “discontinued” while writing this piece.
OnePlus told the Indian Express that the company will continue to provide the phone in the market. They have advised the willing buyers to wait for the next wave of inventory or get the 64GB storage variant of the same colour.
We will continue providing OnePlus 3T 128 GB Gunmetal to the market in the future. People who want to get the device can wait for next wave of inventory. Currently for Gunmetal lovers, they can still purchase 64GB variant. And Midnight Black 3T, as a limited edition, has been sold out.
On the other hand, GSMArena also got some update on the situation and the company’s representative has confirmed to have made improvements to the supply chain. The things are expected to improve in the future.
As we’ve matured as a company we’ve made a lot of improvements to our supply chain.
We recently sold out of the OnePlus 3T Midnight Black last week, and now some versions of the OnePlus 3T are beginning to sell out in some regions. Everything is right on track.
