Camera setup

The highlight of the vivo X300 series is definitely the camera system. Both phones sport 200MP sensors, but utilize them differently. With this series, vivo seems serious about making a change in mobile photography.

For instance, the regular vivo X300 comes with a 200MP Samsung HPB main sensor, 1/1.4” in size — which is capable of capturing highly detailed photos. It also has a 50MP ultra-wide and another 50MP periscope telephoto camera using Sony’s LYT602 sensor.

The telephoto lens can also shoot telemacro photos, meaning you can shoot very close-up photos from afar. The phone is also tipped to arrive in a bright Red color, which actually looks pretty nice.

The vivo X300 Pro is a little different: it shifts the 200MP camera onto the telephoto lens, which makes it better for zoom shots. The main camera is based on a 50MP Sony LYT828 sensor (1/1.28”), while the ultra-wide stays at 50MP.

The 200MP Samsung HPB sensor handles the 85mm periscope zoom and gives really good clarity when shooting far-away subjects. The Pro model will be offered in a premium Golden color, and it looks classier.

Performance and software

Inside, both phones run on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. That’s a flagship-level chip focusing on fast performance and power efficiency; in other words, it’s good for gaming, multitasking, and handling the heavy camera processing.

Vivo X300 Pro further gets an extra advantage with the V3+ and VS1 chips from vivo, which primarily enhance photo processing and deal better with intricate details of images shot in low light.

On the software side, the phones run Origin OS 6. It has some very useful tools, such as Flip Cards, vivo Office Kit, and a One-Tap Transfer feature that makes data transfer quite convenient-even from iPhones.

Photographer kit

vivo is also launching a vivo X300 Pro photographer kit for those more into professional shooting. The kit has a protective case and a ZEISS 2.35x Telephoto Extender lens. This will be sold separately, but there’s a chance vivo might offer bundle deals, like they did in Europe. It’s a nice add-on for anybody using their phone camera seriously.

Launch and availability

The vivo X300 series is expected to launch in India by December. Once it’s out, it will be available online on vivo’s official store, Amazon, and Flipkart, along with selected offline stores. 200MP camera, paired with the Dimensity 9500 chipset and supported by ZEISS accessories, make the vivo X300 series quite an interesting flagship this year. If you love mobile photography, this could be your next upgrade.
