Looks like Xiaomi India is undergoing a strategy shakeup as it has decided not to introduce the Xiaomi 15 Civi in India. As of writing this, the Chinese smartphone maker has cancelled its upcoming premium mid-range smartphone in India, aka the Xiaomi 15 Civi, as it was about to make its debut later this year.

Xiaomi 15 Civi is cancelled in India, and here’s why

Xiaomi India has canceled Xiaomi 15 Civi, the next-gen premium mid-range phone that would have been the successor to last year’s Xiaomi 14 Civi. A mid-range phone, Xiaomi’s Civi series was banking on a Leica-branded camera; however, it has been cancelled at the time of writing this.

Apparently, Xiaomi India is undergoing a strategy shake-up. The upcoming 15 Civi would have been a rebranded version of Xiaomi 15 Civi Pro, targeting a price range of INR 35,000/- to INR 45,000/-. However, the existing 14 Civi is cruising at a lower price tag, which hints at lower demand than supply. Since a new Redmi is hitting the budget segment soon, it only makes sense to let go of the Civi series, as Xiaomi isn’t able to bank on this premium line of smartphones in India.

Xiaomi 15 Civi specs were impressive nonetheless

Even though the 15 Civi is not coming to India, here are some quick specs you might want to check out. The phone would’ve been a rebranded version of Xiaomi 15 Civi Pro, and thus, the specs are identical.

Xiaomi 15 Civi was set to arrive with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC, up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. On the front, we have a 6.55” 1.5K micro-curved display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 3,200 nits of peak brightness.

On the optics front, we have a 50MP primary snapper paired with a 12MP ultra-wide and a 50MP telephoto triple camera tuned by Leica. A 50MP camera sits on the front for all your selfies and video calls. A massive 6,000mAh battery keeps the device beating, while a 67W fast charging tech ensures the device enjoys quick top-ups.
