Three new flagships with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

In a recent announcement, Xiaomi has confirmed that the upcoming Xiaomi 17 series will have three models, the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. All three will use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset.

This launch follows the strategy seen with the Xiaomi 15 series, which was introduced soon after the debut of Qualcomm’s previous high-end chipset.

While Xiaomi has not officially released all the details, industry leaks suggest that the Xiaomi 17 series will feature significant improvements in its design, display, performance, and camera technology. The standard model is expected to have a 6.3-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for a better viewing experience.

The devices are rumored to have a camera system with a 50MP main sensor from OmniVision, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto camera using a Samsung ISOCELL JN5 sensor. The software will be HyperOS 3, which is built on Android 16 and is expected to provide a more streamlined and powerful interface.
