Looks like the Xiaomi 18 series India launch is expected to happen sooner than ever before. Apparently, with no ‘Ultra’ variant in the picture, the Chinese smartphone giant is eyeing launching the upcoming flagship series by the end of this year, a few months before its usual launch schedule, and here’s the tee!
Xiaomi 18 series India launch tipped for December 2026
According to tipster Yogesh Brar, the Xiaomi 18 series launch in India could happen in December 2026. This is a massive departure from its usual tradition to launch the devices in India in Q1 the following year. Apparently, there’s no Xiaomi 18 Ultra in the picture, and instead, we have only three models – Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max.
Although there’s no official update on why the Ultra was cut off from development, it could be related to the ever-rising memory costs. As per the sources, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max reportedly entered the ‘Ultra’ territory with its BOM and retail pricing. If true, this would make the now-cancelled Xiaomi 18 Ultra extremely expensive, and thus, the decision to curtail its development for this year appears to be legit. The Chinese giant will still have an ‘Ultra’ model for the Xiaomi 19 series next year unless the memory costs skyrocket again.
Additionally, since there’s no Ultra in the pipeline for this generation, Xiaomi could launch the entire series in India at the same time rather than wait for the Ultra to make its way to Indian shores, which usually takes a few more weeks.
Xiaomi 18 series launch timeline
The Xiaomi 18 series is all set to launch in China in October 2026, as usual. This will make the series the first to arrive with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset on-board. Of course, other brands will soon follow, such as OnePlus 16. Circling back to Xiaomi, the India launch is expected to happen by December 2026. Note that although Xiaomi will still launch all three models, the top-of-thethe OnePlusiaomi 18 Pro Max will make it to Indian shores in limited quantities.
