- Xiaomi is prepping up for its next flagship Xiaomi 18 series launching this September in China.
- The series, comprising of multiple models from standard Xiaomi 18 to Pro, Pro Max, and Ultra, will resort to either of the two Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6-series chipsets.
- Apparently, Xiaomi 18 is allegedly larger in size at 6.4" possibly to introduce larger battery and camera tech.
Xiaomi 18 series leaks have started to surface online. According to the latest bit, Xiaomi 18 (the standard variant) will pack in a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 SoC and will feature a slightly larger 6.4” display on board. Turns out we now have more information about the entire Xiaomi 18 series thanks to the countless leaks that have followed our eyes—we still have half a year before the series actually launches in China.
Xiaomi 18 series leaks mention a 6.4” display on the entry-level variant
According to tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS), the standard Xiaomi 18 will bring on board a 6.4” AMOLED display. Although this isn’t much of a massive leak, given Xiaomi 17 has a 6.3” panel, we can stay until Xiaomi 18 will have a slightly taller appearance. This is possibly to introduce a larger battery, camera, and other tech that we will read about up next.
I would say a bigger battery pack will be a boon for users, as that is what matters the most after the performance, right?
In another post on Weibo, DCS added how Xiaomi 18 will feature a standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 SoC. It is critical to know that, unlike last year’s Xiaomi 17 series, which had a single chipset under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 series will opt for a dual chipset strategy.
Here, Xiaomi 18 will likely pack in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the entire Pro series resorts to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Having a Pro chipset brings access to better clock speeds, LPDDR6 RAM, and higher GPU configurations, all of which are great for benchmarks and real-life performance.
We are also heading for a better camera setup on the upcoming series. In fact, there’s information on a 200MP periscope telephoto snapper across the Pro series, which is insane. A 50MP primary shooter sits on board Xiaomi 18, the same as 17 Pro, while the Pro series will bring other snappers along with it, including the 200MP we were just talking about.
Xiaomi 18 series launch timeline
As for the Xiaomi 18 series release date, we don’t have any tentative dates yet. It is speculated that the launch could happen in September in China, followed by the Indian and global launches a few months later.
The Chinese smartphone maker has always been at the forefront of adopting the latest chipsets on its flagship series. Since Qualcomm will release the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series in September, we could see the launch of the Xiaomi 18 series happening soon after. However, we advise talking about all these specs and timelines with a pinch of salt, as they are still eight months away from the alleged launch.
