Like the company was rumoured for a long time, Xiaomi today announced its new mid-range smartphones – Redmi Note 5 Pro and Redmi Note 5. The two phones are the successor to last years Redmi Note 4, that went on to reportedly become the largest selling phone in India. Both the phones come with a tall 18:9 display while the Redmi Note Pro includes a dual-camera setup on the back as well.

While the Redmi Note 5 is seemingly the rebranded version of the Redmi 5 Plus that was launched a few weeks back, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is a new product altogether. The latter has a camera housing that is very similar to that of iPhone X with the two cameras placed in a vertical capsule that flank the LED flash. It is also the first phone in the industry to sport the Snapdragon 636 processor.

Redmi Note 5 Pro

Talking about the Redmi Note 5 Pro, it has a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with a 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass on top. It is available in two RAM and storage variants, one with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage and other with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The primary camera on the back has a 12MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture, while it has a secondary 5MP f/2.0 camera. The one on the front has a 20MP sensor and is coupled with an LED flash. The phone has a fingerprint scanner on the back and supports hybrid dual SIM cards.

The Redmi Note 5, on the other hand, comes with some major hardware changes that include a Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. The phone has a single 12MP camera sensor on the back, the one that is also present on the Redmi Note 5 Pro, along with a 5MP front camera. It is announced to be available in two RAM and storage variants, one with 3GB RAM and 32GB of flash memory and another with 4GB RAM and 64GB of flash memory.
