It’s here and it is official. The almighty Xiaomi Mi 11 is here as it was officially launched by Xiaomi at the December 28 launch event. Chucking the usual ordeal to launch several Pro versions with a standard version of any flagship phone, Xiaomi has opted to launch just a single model i.e. Xiaomi Mi 11. As it was earlier reported, it is the first device to sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset under the hood and captures the best of specifications a flagship phone in 2021 could have.

Starting with the display, it is rated by DisplayMate as the best display. It is a giant 6.81-inch AMOLED panel with a 2K QHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. To put things into perspective, the display refreshes itself 200 times more in a second compared to a flagship phone with a 60Hz refresh rate. The phone also sports a 480Hz touch sampling rate along with a peak brightness achieved at 1,500 nits which is mind-blowing. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection on-top which is currently the most protective glass available for any smartphone.

Moving on, we have a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 octa-core chipset under the hood which has already proven its mantle surpassing the performance reckoned by its rivals from Samsung’s Exynos to Huawei’s Kirin and even Apple’s A-series chipset. There are two RAM configurations and three storage configurations available with Xiaomi Mi 11. The first is 8GB+128GB, the second is 8GB+256GB and finally, the third and the largest is 12GB+256GB with no expandable memory card slot.

Moving on to the optics, Xiaomi Mi 11 sports a giant 108MP primary sensor with a 7P lens arrangement with f/1.85 lens at the front, 1/1.33-inch sensor size, and takes a lot of space on the back since the device has a triple camera setup. The other two sensors are a 13MP ultrawide sensor with a field of view of 123-degrees and a tertiary 5MP macro lens that sits adjoining to the primary camera. At the front, you’ll find a rather interesting 20MP sensor housed in a punch-hole to the upper left corner. There are fine-tuned Night Mode capabilities as well.

Xiaomi held the event with a zing exploring the various specifications of the flagship Mi 11 including an improved optical fingerprint scanner from Goodix. The USP of the scanner is its ability to monitor heart-rate although it wasn’t demonstrated at the event.

Talking about the powerhouse, the device sports a giant 4,800 mAh cell under the hood and supports 55W wired fast charging along with 10W reverse charging and 50W wireless charging. There’s also a 65W GaN adapter that the company will supply for free if the users don’t have any compatible charger.

Next up, we have connectivity features like Dual 5G with Sub-6 GHz networks, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E support, all the finest navigation services, and dual SIM card support. A Harman Kardon-tuned stereo speaker takes the helm of providing the finest audio you’ll get on a smartphone.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 is already available on pre-orders and its first sale will commence on January 1, 2021. The device is available in Khaki Vegan Leather, Blue, White, Black, Purple Leather, and Special Edition Lei Jun’s autographed versions.

Talking about the Xiaomi Mi 11 pricing, it starts at CNY3,999 or $610 and goes as high as CNY4,699 or $720 which is still way cheaper than a flagship smartphone from Samsung or Apple would cost.

Although Xiaomi only launched Mi 11, the Mi 11 Pro with a periscope lens isn’t to be discarded as the phone will arrive probably later in 2021. Till then, keep calm and check out Xiaomi Mi 11.
