Xiaomi Mi A2 4GB RAM, 128GB storage variant is not making its way to India

The global launch event organized by Xiaomi in Madrid, Spain on July 24 went extremely successful and introduced two new budget smartphones i.e. Xiaomi Mi A2 and Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite. The official launch for Xiaomi Mi A2 in India is scheduled on August 8 where it will launch globally, however, Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will not be available in India as of now.

According to the recent report, Xiaomi might not roll out the first variant having 32GB storage and 4GB RAM in the Indian market. Instead, it will release the second variant i.e. 64GB + 4GB RAM as the entry-level Xiaomi Mi A2.

Further, the report confirms that apart from the three colors announced for the device i.e Blue, Black, and Gold; Xiaomi will roll out a new variant in Rose Gold color which will be limited for Indian markets only. But then there are deliberations over launching the 128GB + 6GB RAM variant for which, we will have to wait for the official launch event on August 8 to know more.

Xiaomi Mi A2 specifications and pricing

The device will host Quick Charge 4, which is a great upgrade over Quick Charge 3.0, which will be rolled out with Xiaomi Mi A2 devices globally. Qualcomm, the manufacturer of Snapdragon 660 chipset, has stated that Quick Charge 4 could charge up to 5 hours in just 5 minutes. However, a 10W charger will be available instead of a more preferential fast-charging charger.

Xiaomi Mi A2 is basically a rebranded version of Mi 6X  that will have a stock Android 8.1 Oreo update. Xiaomi did promise am Android P  software update as it is signed up for Android One program. It sports a stunning 5.99-inch FHD 1080 x 2160 pixels with 18:9 aspect ratio and a 403 PPI density. Xiaomi has reworked and revamped the performance aspect of the successor to Mi A1 as it has a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Octa-core processor with Adreno 515 GPU.

The device has a stunning 12MP + 20 MP rear dual-camera setup with larger 1.25µm and 4-in-1 superpixel sensor that captures stunningly bright and detailed photos with an aperture of f/1.75. The front camera sports a 20MP snapper with 1.0µm and an aperture of f/4.75 with Soft-LED flash. Its camera has a semantic segmentation along with AI portrait mode and lot more that makes photography on Xiaomi Mi A2 a delight.

The entry-level 32GB + 4GB RAM option was announced at EUR 249 (Rs. 20,100) however, it won’t see light in Indian markets. The 64GB + 4GB RAM variant cost around EUR 279 (Rs. 22,500) and 128GB + 6GB has a price tag of EUR 349 (Rs. 28,100).
