Xiaomi Mi A1 new update begins to rolls out, fixes some bugs

Xiaomi Mi A1 is not the conventional phone by the Chinese smartphone maker. It is an off-center phone because of the fact that it runs on stock Android One –  It is a collaboration between Google and Xiaomi.  Since this is the Android One device, Google will give two years of software update on the handset.

After almost a year of waiting Xiaomi had finally decided to roll out the Android 8.1 aka android Oreo to the device. Though it has got an update to Android 8.0 Oreo after few months of the release of the phone. The company has started rolling closed beta update of android 8.1 couple of weeks ago and stable updates are now being circulated in patches. The new update is bundled with the June security update and weighs around 1.1GB and has been continuously reported by the users in India and Philippines via the OTA route.

Comparing the new update with the Android 8.0 update there are not many major changes. Basically, the update revolves around the furtherance such as the change in power menu, updated Gapps, battery indicator for Bluetooth device, a SystemUI theme that adapts your wallpaper’s color, since there is no official update log by the company these are some of the changes found by the users. There also some of the reports regarding the improved sound quality after the update.

Although there are stumbling blocks of the updates such as no treble support, old modem/Baseband version, Safetynet is broken and some others which are not being dappled. If you haven’t get the update yet you can look for the update manually by going to the setting menu and press that check for update button. On the pitfall, some of the Mi A1 users who have already updated the phone are reporting that while updating to the new android they have lost all their messages though not happen to all of them but it will be wise to first back them up via a third-party app.
