Just a few hours ago, leakster Ice Universe posted that Xiaomi is bringing Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 on August 11, it has been officially confirmed. The smartphones appeared on Chinese certification platforms as model number 22061218C and both Ice Universe and Digital Chat Station reportedly mentioned August 11 as the release date. Well, it’s official now. Let’s see what the buzz is all about.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is releasing on August 11
According to the launch poster, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will make its debut on August 11 at 7 pm local time (China). The poster shows a glimpse at the upcoming foldable device that will compete against Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Z Flip4 releasing on the same day. As per the reports, Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 will be lightweight and will be equipped with Leica-optimised cameras onboard.
Although Xiaomi hasn’t shared any details about the upcoming foldable phone which is surprising given the fact that it usually teases phones much in advance, we have some reports for the specs. The phone is likely packing a Samsung AMOLED E5 secondary cover display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. It has an FHD+ resolution of 2520×1080 pixels along with a refresh rate of 120Hz. For context, the original Xiaomi MIX Fold had a 27:9 aspect ratio and 90Hz refresh rate.
The primary display will also get a bumped-up 10.3:9 aspect ratio instead of 4.3 as in the last generation. For the current one, we are expecting a Samsung Eco2 AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and lower power consumption by 25%.
Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 Specifications (Expected)
Apart from the display tech, the phone has been seen on TENAA sporting a 12+512GB variant and a 12GB+1TB storage variant as well. There’s a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood. When it comes to the optics, 50MP primary Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS, 13MP ultrawide, and a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. A 3C Certification reported that the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 has a 67W fast charging tech, although another report suggests it will be rolled out with 56W fast charging tech as its predecessor.
Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro and Pad 5 Pro to tag along
So yes, it won’t be just the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 at the launch on August 11 but Buds 4 Pro and Pad 5 Pro to tag along as well. Talking about the Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro, it will be a 12.4” model based on Snapdragon 870 SoC although it’s unclear if it’s based on last year’s Pad 5 Pro which had an 11” display, a 50MP camera setup among others. Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro will join along as well although there’s no information available at the moment.
