The Xiaomi Redmi 4A was announced back in November alongside Redmi 4, and other phones in the Redmi 4 lineup. Today, Xiaomi announced the Redmi 4A in India today (20th March 2017), at a price tag of Rs. 5,999 . The phone attempts to target the entry-level market, to reach out to a crowd that cannot afford smartphones. It is said to be made available exclusively through Amazon India (Amazon.in) and Mi.com from 12 PM IST, Thursday (23rd March 2017). The phone will retail in 2 color variants: Dark Grey and Gold. Rose Gold will join the party through Mi.com from April 6th onwards.
The phone sports a polycarbonate body, and not a metal design. Besides that, the phone sports a hybrid dual-SIM slot, and runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. On the front, the Redmi 4A brings a 5-inch HD 720P screen and is powered by a 1.4Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 425 SoC, which is accompanied by a 2GB RAM and an Adreno 308GPU. The phone brings 16GB inbuilt storage and supports expandable storage up to 128GB.
On the camera end, the phone sports a 13-megapixel primary sensor on the back, with PDAF autofocus, f/2.2 aperture, a five lens system, and an LED flash as well. A 13-megapixel sensor at this price seems plenty. The front-facing selfie shooter holds a 5-megapixel sensor.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A sounds pretty fair for the price it is being offered at, the camera, specifications, and build sound promising on paper. Let’s see how it turns out for real. Let us know your thoughts.
