Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Hands-on : Flagship-esque at a Budget Price

The Redmi Note 7 is currently the most affordable device to feature a gigantic 48 Megapixel Camera setup on its back, as a result, the smartphone is getting a pretty strong response in China. The new Redmi Note 7 is the successor to Note 6 Pro, and it features a radical design change when compared to other devices in the same lineup. So let’s check out this amazing piece of device in some exclusive hands-on pictures which we bring you in this article.  

The Redmi Note 7 comes with a 6.3-inch LCD display with a FHD+ resolution of 2340×1080 pixels up front. The display looks extremely bright and  vibrant, with great clarity outdoors in sun. Keeping in line with the recent trend, the display houses a so called ‘drop’ notch on the top, which looks much smaller and more attractive than the typical notch . Apart from that, we are also getting a layer of double-sided Gorilla glass 5 on the phone, that makes it more durable. However, the bottom chin of the display is comparatively thicker than that of the smartphones like Honor 8X.

The Redmi Note 7 comes with a premium look and feel, thanks to an elegant gradient glass body capable of showing different variations under different lighting conditions. The device feels quite compact in hands and it has an extremely sturdy built. The overall look of the phone is relatively much better than the other Redmi smartphones out there, and it features something that we usually didn’t get to see on other smartphones under such a reasonable price tag. In addition, the phone does retains a headphone jack, as well as packs a Type C port on the bottom.

When it comes to the hardware, Redmi Note 7 is powered by an efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC, with the highest frequency of 2.2GHz, better than the Snapdragon 660 with frequency of 1.95GHz. The processor is paired with upto 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The device is fueled by a 4,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging via USB Type C Port. In terms of software, the smartphone comes with the latest and greatest Android 9.0 Pie flavoured with MIUI 10 out of the box. Other features of the phone includes an IR sensor (Infrared) and sound amplifier.

In terms of optics, the Note 7 sports an impressive 48MP camera setup on its back. It has an AI dual camera setup, aligned vertically, housing a main 48MP Samsung’s GM1 sensor equipped with four-in-one 1.6μm large pixel. The 48MP lens is combined with a 5MP Depth sensor for taking stunning bokeh images. On the front is a 13MP selfie shooter, supporting AI Scene Recognition, Face Unlocking, Front HDR, Single Shot Background, Studio Light Effects, etc. As the phone wasn’t with us for a long period of time, we haven’t clicked the camera samples.
