Xiaomi is working on yet another Redmi smartphone known as Xiaomi Redmi S2. The new Redmi family member could be a budget smartphone having dual cameras as well as Face Unlock feature. The device has already been leaked numerous times previously. And, now we have another fresh leak revealing high-resolution images as well as complete specifications.
Xiaomi Redmi S2 images have been spotted online, revealing a design similar to that of the popular Mi 6X. The next budget smartphone had previously passed TENNA certification and now we have all the important specifications and images. The images were first spotted on a Czech Republic publication, claiming that the device was displayed at the official store of Xiaomi.
The launch of the device in India and other parts of the world is yet to be announced, there are strong rumors that the device will be launched in the month of May in India.
Coming to the specifications as suggested by the source, the Redmi S2 will feature a 5.99-inch 18:9 IPS display, with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 625 chipset, along with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a battery capacity of 3,080 mAh. It will run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. There are no pricing details for the device as of now but it is expected that the device will fall in between Rs 7,000-10,000.
From these shots, we can see that the phone looks a lot like the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Mi 6X. The images suggest that the Redmi S2 will have dual rear cameras. The phone will reportedly have a 12MP primary sensor at the back and a 5MP secondary depth sensor. There might be a 16MP selfie shooter on the front. The images also show a fingerprint scanner mounted at the back of the device. These images did not reveal the presence of 3.5mm headphone jack, but unfortunately a dated micro USB port instead of the Type-C port. However, Xiaomi can add the 3.5mm headphone jack as the device is targeted for budget and entry-level smartphone buyers.
To sum things up, we are safe to say that the Xiaomi Redmi S2 has been confirmed and will be making its way to India as well as other parts of the world soon. Are you excited for Xiaomi Redmi S2? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
