The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 series never made it to China but was released in many other markets. Cut to now, after a series of leaks and whatnot, Xiaomi has finally unveiled the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 series in China. It comprises Redmi Note 9 4G, Redmi Note 9 5G, and Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G, and guess what, it has a major upgrade from last year’s Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro respectively.

The 5G Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 will be available from December 1 in China starting at a price tag of CNY1,599 and CNY1,299 respectively. The 4G Redmi Note 9 is available at a price tag of just CNY1,000. Here’s everything you should know about the trio that launched earlier today.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G Specifications

The highest in the hierarchy of the Redmi Note 9 series is the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G. It arrives with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset on-board along with a Snapdragon X52 modem that enables it to access 5G. Apart from that, it has a 100 percent increase in terms of storage system i.e. UFS 2.2 with Turbo Write when compared with last year’s UFS 2.1 (with Redmi Note 8 Pro).

The device sports a giant 6.67-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate on-board with an adaptive display that reiterates the hertz based on the system’s requirement. It has a different refresh rate ranging from 30Hz to 120Hz. It is clubbed with a 240Hz touch sampling rate which goes in-line with the report that arrived earlier. Finally, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has a Gorilla Glass 5 on top of the display for maximum protection.

Proceeding further, the Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has made quite a lot of improvements in terms of the camera department. The primary sensor is a 1/1.52” ISOCELL HM2 108MP sensor with 9-in-1 pixel binning technology. It has an effective pixel size up to 2.1micron. The phone has a quad-camera setup with an 8MP ultrawide sensor capable of shooting a 120-degree field of view. It is paired with a 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor to go with it.

Xiaomi must have equipped a telephoto sensor as well but it is not available. The phone is still capable of achieving a lossless digital zoom of up to 3x. The quad-camera sensor at the back is inside a circular camera bump that resembles the OnePlus 7T. Finally, a front punch-hole cut-out at the center has a 16MP shooter.

The device is powered by a hefty 4,820 mAh battery which is larger than last year’s Redmi Note 8 Pro’s 4500 mAh battery. It is joined with a 33W fast charging tech which is capable of juicing up the battery in just 58 minutes (under suitable conditions).

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G has at least 11 antennas that allow a far greater 5G reception as well as boost Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity as well. It also has an IR blaster and NFC connectivity features. What’s interesting is that Xiaomi has shipped Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G with a 3.5mm headphone jack when many other OEMs have removed it already. A stereo speaker on the device adds a jewel to the crown. Talking about the pricing variants, the 6+128GB variant is up for sale at CNY1,600 while the higher 8+128GB variant will bore a tiny but additional CNY200. Finally, the 8+256GB is up for sale at CNY2,000 in China. The pricing for its global market and even its launch is unclear at this moment.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G Specifications

Talking about the standard Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 5G, it is still a massive upgrade over its predecessor Redmi Note 8. It sports a MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset under the hood along with a UFS 2.2 storage system which is undoubtedly twice as fast when compared to the older generation UFS 2.1.

The device attracts a slightly smaller 6.53” LCD panel with an FHD+ display with a 60Hz refresh rate so yes, it misses a few things here. The display has been certified by TUV and goes as low as 1 nit if needed. Just like its Pro sibling, the Redmi Note 9 sports a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 above the display to prevent any damage to it.

Proceeding further, we have a triple camera setup at the back housed in a camera bump. A 48MP primary sensor boosts 4-in-1 pixel binning technology and can capture videos at 4K resolution. An 8MP ultrawide sensor takes the place of a secondary sensor with a field of view of 118-degree and finally, a 2MP macro sensor takes the tertiary position. The front punch-hole cut-out to the top-left corner houses a 13MP shooter.

Talking about the battery pack, we get a hefty 5,000 mAh battery under the hood along with an 18W charging speed but you get a 22.5W charger in the retail box.

It has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a stereo speakers setup, and a 360-degree antenna coverage with 7 antennas that help it with 5G, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi signal reception. Finally, the device arrives in three trims i.e. the 6+128GB variant is available at CNY1,300; the mid-tier 8+128GB variant is priced at CNY1500, and the top-most 8+256GB variant is up for sale at CNY1,700.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 4G Specifications

The third in the Redmi Note 9 series, the Redmi Note 9 4G does bring a lot of beef but mixed with a few shortcomings here and there. It sports a Snapdragon 662 SoC on top of 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage and 4GB of RAM. The device sports a similar 6.53” LCD panel with a 1080p+ resolution with a 60Hz refresh rate and a 120Hz touch sampling rate. The device has received a slightly less protective Corning Gorilla Glass 3 when compared with its 5G variant.

Next up, the phone sports a triple camera setup at the back arranged in a rectangular camera bump. It sports a 48MP primary sensor with 8MP ultrawide with 120-degree FoV and a tertiary 2MP depth sensor. An 8MP front sensor takes a spot in a waterdrop-shaped notch on top. Finally, we have both stereo speakers and a 3.5m headphone jack with it without any doubt.
