Xiaomi is about to bring under-display camera technology to its smartphones next year. Although the technology is really Xiaomi’s third-generation under-display camera, the first- and second-gen models never made it to mass-produced handsets. After years of smartphones featuring either obtrusive notches or cut-out holes, true bezel-less handsets are closer than ever.

Over the years Xiaomi has hinted from time-to-time that it might offer its phones within the U.S., but this has never come to pass. It does offer a limited number of products that are available from its U.S. website including a camera that records 4K video, an electrical scooter, smart devices for the house, and more. it is a very fashionable line of Mi Band fitness trackers are available within the U.S. via Amazon. the newest model, the Mi Band 5, are often purchased for slightly below $55.

Xiaomi has disclosed the technique which they implemented to get the third-generation under-display camera. “The panel is doubling the number of pixels over the small circle to have the same pixel density and color accuracy as the rest of the screen. It is borrowing colors from the neighboring pixels but is able to turn off/go black on-demand – mostly when the camera is turned on.” as explained by GSMArena.

Xiaomi has become the leading phone manufacturer within the world’s second-largest smartphone market, India. it had been ready to achieve this by employing a value for money approach that dovetails perfectly with the country’s still developing economy.

According to Gartner, Xiaomi was the fourth-largest smartphone manufacturer globally during the second quarter. From April through June the firm delivered 26.1 million handsets ok for fourth place after Samsung, Huawei, and Apple. Xiaomi’s global market share basically stayed an equivalent of 8.9% from last year’s 9% despite a drop of over 21% within the number of units it shipped within the quarter on an annual basis.

Apart from Xiaomi, OPPO had demoed an identical technology last year, but it’s yet to launch a billboard phone with the planning. the company said it used a customized camera module with an enhanced translucent panel material combined with advanced processing algorithms that don’t require a notch or pop-up mechanism.
