YouTube Music Bug Shows Black Screen on iPhone – What You Need to Know
Some iPhone users are dealing with a bug, which lets them with a black screen when they just open the YouTube Music app. This shortcoming renders your app out of use as you are deprived of your music files and favorite playlists.
Although your phone screen may be dark, the YouTube Music logo and other icons, including your profile picture, might appear. The bottom bar can still show the Home, Explore and Library tabs but the Samples tab might no longer be present.
Sadly, people with YouTube Premium subscriptions are denied access to their music libraries because of it. However, there is a way around this – cancel the subscription plan and access music with ads instead. It is far from ideal, but we need something to keep us going while we wait for an actual solution.
This bug seems to be affecting iPhone users more than Android users while the latter seem to be escaping unscathed. A lot of users assume that the recent update of the app (version 6.48.3) has conjured up a server-side problem. And NO, even reinstalling the app won’t work.

Users also complain about track control issues in addition to the black screen glitch. The navigation buttons have changed to 30 seconds skip and 10 seconds rewind control, which is more appropriate for a podcast than music. This issue is shown on the CarPlay and lock screen’s Now Playing controls.
