A fresh new WhatsApp update could drastically alter the way you use WhatsApp for sending photos. The new update will give the user an ability to share their photos quickly. According to a recent delineation by WABetainfo, a fan site that has inspected the new WhatsApp feature in the beta version of the app, the messaging app is testing this feature which you might soon be able to use. After the last update, this could be a major update for the instant messaging app.

How does this new feature work?

According to the recent report, WhatsApp is now able to predict what photos the user is going to send in a chat. The main objective of this feature is to upload the photo on their servers in advance. This will ensure that photos will load sooner than before when user finally decide to press send.

So, when the user selects photos from the camera roll and press done they will be redirected to the edit photo screen. In the background, WhatsApp has already sent the image to the server. Now, if the user tap “Send Button” the recipient will receive the image with a direct single grey tick. The timer icon will not appear rather it will appear for 0.0001 seconds to be exact since the photo is already delivered to the server.

The predicted upload feature only works for unedited photos which means if the user tries doodling or any other editing, the old original photo will be deleted and the edited photo will be sent to the server only when you tap send and there will be no prediction.

As of now predicted upload feature is more stable on iOS than Android. In order to use this feature, iOS user needs to update the app to 2.18.61 iOS update. For an Android user, the feature is correctly enabled for some lucky users the others will have to wait for now. However, there are still no updates for windows phones. It is also not available on WhatsApp web.

The feature is limited to only photos yet, it will not work on GIFs or videos. The feature is very optimized and works on both Wi-Fi and cellular networks. There could be some problems with this feature as it may use extra mobile data on the cellular network since the photo is being uploaded on the servers even if the user wants or doesn’t want to share the photos.

Security

A lot of people will think that is it safe to share photos on WhatsApp now, but everything sent on WhatsApp servers is still end to end encrypted except the metadata.
