Ever wondered what would happen if your phone explodes? Well, an Apple iPhone X user named Rahel Mohamad recently experienced it at his home in Federal Way, Washington, United States. On Wednesday, Rahel was updating his iPhone to the latest iOS 12.1 when suddenly he saw smoke coming out of the phone.

As per the incident, Rahel completed the iOS 12.1 whilst the phone was connected to an Apple-supplied charger when suddenly he felt that the phone has become too hot. In a reflex action, he removed the charger and kept the phone aside and that’s when he saw dark grey colored smoke emitting from the device and suddenly, the phone engulfed in flames cracking the firm back glass showing the wireless charging coil affixed under the back panel. Since the phone was connected to an Apple-supplied charged, this eliminates if an external charger created the problem and also, the update was coincidental and nowhere related to the fire whatsoever.

Rahel purchased the phone back in January and after it got into flames, he contacted the Apple Support where he was asked to DM the information and also, ship the phone to the company so that the Cupertino-based tech giant can look into the matters and scrutinized why and how it happened. Unfortunately, this is not the first time a smartphone has exploded. Samsung Galaxy Note 7 became popular after it exploded and soon, it was discontinued and all the units were recalled. Then there are other instances of iPhones getting exploded due to heating of the lithium batteries and other reasons. Although the situation occurs rarely, there is a chance that your phone might explode or catch fire at least one in tens of millions of devices.
