We have seen that the Google Pixel 4a is anticipated to the best next smartphone that will make a lot of waves in the smartphone industry after Apple announced its iPhone SE 2020 earlier this month. As we have previously reported regarding the Google Pixel 4a, the smartphone is said to be having a price cut for this year as well. It will mean that the Google Pixel 4a will be even cheaper than the Pixel 3a from last year which started at $399 in the US.

According to the reported price leak, the Pixel 4a will more internal storage will start at just $299 which is a $100 price cut. However, the higher storage variant for Pixel 4a will have a $399 price tag but you get 256GB storage as well. Having said that, we know that price cut comes with some compromises as well as we know that Pixel 4a will also have some of them. As we know, Google’s Pixel ‘a’ series lineup is not known for its performance since it will have a mid-range processor only. However, new reports from the leakland now suggest that Pixel 4a will also not have ‘Active Edge’ feature.

For those who have used an HTC phone from the past or are using a Pixel device, they know the “Active Edge” feature which is activated with the help of pressure-sensitive sides of the phone. With the help of this feature, you can perform actions such as squeezing the sides of your phone as well as tapping on one side to trigger certain actions such as opening the camera or activating Google Assistant.

Since Active Edge a.k.a pressure-sensitive sides will not be present on the Google Pixel 4a, squeezing the phone will not activate anything on the device. There is also a rumour that the Pixel 5 will also ditch the “Active Edge” so Google might be done with this feature since not many users might have found it useful.

As for the gestures, Google Pixel 4a will have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and the report mentions that double-tap rear gestures are present on the device. Therefore, it is likely that you will have features such as swipe-down on the sensor to pull down notifications as well as double-tap to unlock and double-tap on the sensor to lock the phone along with other things.
