The Vivo X500 series is official. Adding a third member to the family, the X500 series now has a standard X500, a wiser X500 Pro, and a big brother X500 Pro Max, with the latter two bringing the next-gen 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro SoC under the hood. We got some serious upgrades across the board, which is interesting. Let’s have a look at what we got with the X500 series, succeeding the X300 series from last year.
Vivo X500 series launched in China
On the powertrain, we have the all-new Dimensity 9600 Pro fabbed on a 2nm node by TSMC, which you’ll find on both the Pro models. The standard Vivo X500 gets a Dimensity 9600M, which is a rebadged 9500 SoC with slight improvements. The trio comes with a string of storage configurations from 12GB/16GB to 256GB/512/1TB of storage that you can choose from.
The vanilla X500 gets a larger 6.59” AMOLED 2K 144Hz panel with 4,000 nits of peak brightness compared to the 6.31” on the X300. On the flip side, both Pros get LTPO AMOLED 2K 144Hz BOE 11 panels, with the Pro getting a 6.36” and the Pro Max getting a larger 6.85” display. Both are capped at a peak brightness of up to 4,500 nits.
Talking about the battery on-board, the Pro Max gets the largest of the three at 8,000 mAh Si-C, while the Pro caps at 6,510mAh and the vanilla at 7,500 nits. For the unversed, the vanilla X500 got a hefty jump from last year’s 6,040mAh battery, while the Pro kept the numbers intact but with a 5th-gen battery tech that should return better battery performance. The trio pack has the same 90W wired and 40W wireless charging as last year’s.
Vivo X500 series cameras took a lot of credit this year. We have a custom-made 24mm 50MP primary Sony LYTIA L910 SoC on the Pro models with Zeiss T* coating, a 17 EV dynamic range, and gimbal-grade 3-degree OIS support (on Pro Max) and 1.5-degree (on Pro).
There’s a 200MP periscope telephoto, 85mm equivalent Samsung ISOCELL HP0 sensor with OIS as found on the Pro Max. On the Pro, we have a 64MP Sony LYTIA with OIS instead, with 3.5x optical zoom. Finally, there’s also a tertiary 50MP ISOCELL JN5 119-degree ultrawide snapper completing its triple rear cam setup. There’s a 400mm Zeiss Telephoto Extender Gen 2 Ultra as an accessory that you can buy separately.
On the vanilla variant, we have a primary 50MP Sony LYTIA 828, a 64MP telephoto, and a 50MP ISOCELL JN1 ultrawide snapper. A 50MP front selfie camera with the same specs is on all three models.
Other inclusions are a stereo speaker setup, Wi-Fi 7 dual-band, Bluetooth v5.4/v6.0, Type-C 3.2, an under-the-display fingerprint scanner, NFC, an IR port, Android 17-based OriginOS 7 with 5 major OS updates, and an IP68/IP69 rating.
Vivo X500, X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max price and availability
The trio arrives in China with multiple storage configurations ranging from 12GB+256GB through 16GB+1TB. The open sales will commence in China on September 24. The EU launch is set to happen on October 27th, more than a month from today, and the sales start on November 7. You can choose from white, gray, and black for the standard X500. The Pro and Pro Max will be available in four colorways: black, gray, white, and orange.
