MediaTek is working on its next-gen Dimensity 9600 Pro and standard Dimensity 9500 processors. Set to be based on a 2nm node, the Dimensity 9600 Pro is officially launching on September 15, as per the official launch teaser released by the chipmaker itself.
Dimensity 9600 Pro is launching on September 15
Set to arrive on September 15 at 2.30 pm local time in China, MediaTek will launch its first-ever 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro SoC, the first Pro-branded chipset, with significant hardware and software improvements.
Dimensity 9600 Pro is based on a 2nm node, as aforementioned, fabricated by TSMC’s 2nd-gen N2P process. On the other hand, the Dimensity 9600 SoC will stick to a 3nm node but be enhanced to deliver better performance than last year’s Dimensity 9500.
What MediaTek is targeting with the Pro chipsets is gaming thanks to AI-assisted GPU rendering, hardware-accelerated ray tracing, and an upgraded StarSpeed Engine, all meant to bring about a revolution in the gaming segment. The chipmaker is also targeting video recording with the capability to record 4K slow-mo videos at 240fps, along with tools to suit content creators and gamers alike.
MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro performance tipped as well
Well, talking about the performance, the Dimensity 9600 Pro appeared on Geekbench with the model number MT6995 on-board a Vivo X500 Pro. The chipset was able to score 4,137 on single-core and 12,751 points on the multi-core tests. This makes the D9600 Pro approx. 30% more powerful than the D9500 in CPU performance, although we need to wait to see this gain in real-life tests.
Specs-wise, the Dimensity 9600 Pro packs an octa-core architecture having 3x cores at 3.10GHz, 3x cores at 4.35 GHz, and 2x high-performance cores clocked at 4.55GHz. It also has an ARM Mali-G2-Ultra-NX MC12 GPU plus up to 16GB of RAM. This is what the specs look like, unless there’s an overclocked version that exists, waiting for its launch next week.
