As Apple is busy prepping for the September 7 Far Out launch event, there has been a haystack of reports stating other devices to launch at the event apart from the obvious iPhone 14 series and Apple Watch Series 8. Well, although not during the same date but as per the latest update coming from Mark Gurman himself, Apple is likely to launch 14-inch and 16-inch Apple MacBook Pro models with upgraded M2 Pro and M2 Max chipsets this year. The Power On newsletter mentions that the chipset is already under development and testing phase meaning it could launch earlier than you can think i.e. by the end of this year.

Apple likely to launch MacBook Pros with latest M2 Pro/Max chips

We are talking about both 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro that are likely to arrive with M2 Pro and M2 Max processors. If you have kept yourself updated regarding Apple News, you would know there’s still no confirmation on whether the notebooks will go for processors based on 3nm node or 5nm although there’s a heavy inclination towards the latter. In fact, a story from MacRumors states that Apple is likely to use TSMC’s N5P process based on a 5nm node instead of the currently used N5 process which will give the processors a much-needed boost in performance.

Although the said timeline has been referenced by both Ming-Chi Kuo and Mark Gurman hinting at their actuals, the ongoing supply chain disruptions can push back the production schedule that will eventually have ripple effects on the launch as well.

Talking about upgrades to the said MacBook Pros, they won’t bring many changes on the table given the fact that their last design overhaul was done in October 2021 and if you are an Apple enthusiast, you would know that Apple doesn’t update the design of its products every year in most cases. On the contrary, it goes without saying that the M2 Pro and Max chipsets will have an equivalent upgrade to their M1 counterparts. We are talking about faster RAM and more graphics core count that will improve its performance over the base variant.
