- Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra design leak suggests an almost unchanged front appearance.
- A 6.9-inch M16 OLED panel and 16MP selfie camera are reportedly in development.
- The phone could gain a 5,700mAh battery while remaining around 7.9mm thick.
The leaks regarding the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra seem to be painting a fascinating image about Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone. Based on the recent report, there don’t seem to be too many changes at the front end of the device despite a lot of advancements being expected under the hood. Let’s break down the story.
Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra design leak points to bigger upgrades underneath
According to images from popular Samsung leaker Ice Universe, the screen protectors for the Galaxy S27 Ultra resemble those used by the previous generation S26 Ultra. The similarity is such that screen protectors used in the older device can be used for the upcoming flagship. The front end of the Galaxy S27 Ultra would turn out to be the least changed part of the device.

The difference between the S27 Ultra and S26 Ultra is incredibly small. In fact, this may be the smallest change in front display design between two consecutive Ultra flagships in Samsung’s history.

Same display shape, but new OLED technology
The familiar design doesn’t necessarily indicate that Samsung will be using the old display technology. The latest reports reveal a display of about 6.9 inches in size with the 1,440 × 3,120 resolution. However, the more noticeable change is expected from Samsung’s display’s new M16 OLED panel material, which is reportedly developed for better energy efficiency, color precision, brightness, and lifetime of the panel itself.
Another aspect Samsung is expected to keep the same is its Privacy display technology. Quite intriguingly, there are some reports saying that Samsung will be favoring privacy performance over the extreme brightness of the panel.
Finally, the camera for selfies can advance
In addition, Samsung may decide to improve the hardware that lies beneath the familiar design at the front. Several leaks have indicated that Samsung will introduce a new 16MP camera for selfies. The existing Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra comes with a 12MP camera. Hence, despite the same appearance of the camera cutout, there may be a new part placed behind it.
A bigger battery inside a thinner body?
This is when the news about the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra design becomes more exciting. Leaks indicate that the thickness of the phone may still be around 7.99mm. However, its weight might increase from the current 214 grams of the Galaxy S26 Ultra to the range of 215 to 218 grams.
It is likely due to an increased capacity of the battery that should be 5,700mAh against 5,000mAh of the current model.
Samsung may be undergoing changes on the back
It is critical to draw a line between the two aspects. While the front might have hardly changed, the latest leaks revealed that Samsung might have dedicated some attention to a redesign of the camera department. Some reports have talked about a new camera module and some modifications made to the camera configuration, such as the removal of the 3x telephoto lens.
Overall, Samsung has yet to confirm the design, specifications, or release date for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. However, for the time being, this information is still just leaks, but they tell us the Samsung can retain the recognizable front while altering the hardware and design of the camera on the back.
