OnePlus 16 leaks have intensified as the launch draws closer. This doesn’t come as a surprise since OnePlus itself is teasing specs related to RAM, storage, color options, and more, building up the momentum for the upcoming flagship launch. Here’s what the official details look like.
The OnePlus 16 is incoming and will rival iQOO 16 (to debut on September 29). The phone has sparked interest thanks to the various teasers, and here’s a summary of the recent ones.
OnePlus 16 leaks color options, RAM, and storage
According to the official listing, the OnePlus 16 will bring on board three color options.
- Tomorrow Starlight (Interactive breathing lights that illuminate celestial coordinates and branding)
- Martian Masterpiece
- Dark Forest
Moving further, we have various configurations available with the OP16. It begins with 12GB+256GB and makes its way through 12GB+512GB, 16GB+512GB, and finally, the top-notched 16GB+1TB.
It is possible that some color options may be limited to certain storage configurations, although the actual details will be revealed soon.
OnePlus 16 specs leaked ahead of launch
Well, counting on the rumors and leaks, we now have an optimistic picture of what the OnePlus 16 specs will look like. This includes a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro capable of breaching 5GHz max frequency. There’s a hefty 9,000mAh battery built on OnePlus’ Glacier technology coupled with 50W wireless and 100W wired charging.
On the camera front, we have a massive 200MP primary snapper with a 1/1.4” sensor, a secondary 50MP ultrawide, and a tertiary 50MP periscope telephoto with a sensor size of 1/1.95”.
What kept us on the edge of our seats was the 6.78” AMOLED 1.5K panel with a 165Hz global refresh rate. Although we have seen a 165Hz panel on a OnePlus before, it suffered issues such as being locked at max rate, draining batteries, or only a few selected apps working at 165Hz while others were limited to 120Hz.
Cut to now, the OnePlus 16 will see a global 165Hz panel, which means all the apps, whether WhatsApp, YouTube, or anything else, will buffer at 165Hz. In case text or static content is showing on the screen, the display will dial down the refresh rate, taking off the excess stress on the battery, and jump right up when needed.
The OnePlus 16 launch is expected to happen in a couple of days. It is set to arrive as one of the first phones featuring Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset. However, reports suggest it could be limited to China with no apparent launch in India, Europe, or North America.
Instead, OnePlus will launch the OnePlus 16R (based on the Ace 7 series) in India, which means the Indian market will see a sub-flagship phone. However, since there are no official deets on this story, we take this with a pinch of salt for a bit.
