Perfectly as things should be, RedMagic 12 Pro+ has officially launched in China. Dubbed the first phone with an 185Hz under-display true full-screen display the industry has ever seen, the phone packs a punch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 SoC. Here’s what the phone brings to the table.
Channeling the performance on-board RedMagic 12 Pro+
RedMagic 12 Pro+ arrives with the power flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset (see list of upcoming phones with this SoC) from Qualcomm paired with an in-house RedCore R5 gaming chip, up to 1TB UFS 4.1 Pro storage, and 16GB LPDDR5T RAM on board. On the software side, you get RedMagic OS 12 based on Android 17 with a couple of years of major Android support.
What’s interesting is the circular liquid-cooling module at the back that has RGB lighting sitting on top of it. As per Nubia, the cooling module ensures both the CPU and battery remain cool as a cat. It is estimated to have an 85% more powerful micro-pump compared to the last-gen RedMagic 11 Pro+.
Nubia has engineered the RedMagic 12 Pro+, keeping gaming at its core, as usual. The cooling system uses a combination of liquid metal, vapor chamber, graphene thermal materials, and a cumulative five-layer thermal setup to keep the phone breezing during extreme use.
The R5 gaming chip on-board the RedMagic 12 Pro+ handles frame interpolation up to 185Hz, 2K upscaling, ray tracing, and more that ensures your gaming experience remains memorable.
There are capacitive shoulder triggers at 700Hz on-board that add to the gaming experience. The phone has a combination of a dual 1115E symmetrical stereo speaker setup, a Magic Island notification interface, an IPX8 rating, 5G NSA/SA, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a few more things on the go.
A massive 6.85” AMOLED panel with 1216×2688 px resolution, a 1,900 nits HBM, and up to 5,000 nits at peak brightness. The display is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i for extreme protection. The display has a 96.3% screen-to-body ratio and a bezel thickness of just 0.96mm.
On the camera front, the phone uses a ninth-gen 16MP under-display cam by BOE Plus. We have a 50MP primary with OIS and a 50MP ultrawide dual camera setup. The battery roars at 8,400mAh plus 120W fast wired and 80W wireless charging on the fly.
RedMagic 12 Pro+ pricing, colors, and availability
RedMagic 12 Pro+ colorway options are Subzero and Nightfreeze, available right away, and Skyfrost coming later this year. For pricing, the phone costs CNY 6,999 (approx. $980) for the base 12GB+256GB variant. Then, we have a mid-tier 16GB+512GB at CNY 7,999 (approx. $1,120), and finally, we have a larger 16GB+1TB variant that retails at CNY 8,999 (approx. $1,160).
