Last week, an Oppo smartphone bearing model number PBCM30 appeared on Chinese regulatory TENAA with its spec sheets. We already knew that Oppo would launch an affordable version of Oppo R17 with waterdrop notch but little did we know that the Oppo K1 as it will be known is a completely different lineup based on Oppo R15 and R17 but affordable. Well, thanks to the sources, we recently got out hands on the live images as to what we assume is the upcoming Oppo K1 that will be launched on October 10, 2018, i.e. Wednesday and we have most of the details about it.
The leaked image shows a smartphone ‘Oppo K1’ in an industrial case that Oppo has been using to protect spy shots but it does leak somehow. Talking about the smartphone, we can see a huge screen, reduced bezel although the case has covered some part of the phone’s edges, chin, and finally, we can see an Oppo R17-like waterdrop notch.
The smartphone appears as an Oppo F9 with rear-mounted fingerprint scanner since it is believed to have an in-display fingerprint scanner but there’s no official word about it. According to the specs, Oppo K1 will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC paired with Adreno 512 GPU. Since there were three model numbers associated with the Geekbench listing, we could assume that there are three RAM configurations with the device although we have inputs for two only i.e. 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB.
The device sports a colossal 6.4-inch AMOLED display boasting a screen resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device resembles the Oppo R15 and R17 series and of course it will because it is an affordable version of these flagship smartphones along with the new waterdrop notch that was seen with several smartphones recently including Oppo R17 and upcoming OnePlus 6T (also based on Oppo R17).
About the optics, the device sports a dual-camera setup at the rear with 16+2MP dual sensors at the back along with a 25MP selfie sensor at the front, something Oppo has been exercising with its ‘F’ series a lot. The device is expected to run on Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS 5.1/5.2 since it would take some time for Android Pie 9.0 to roll out for non-partnered smartphones. Finally, the launch date for Oppo K1 is on October 10 in China but prices and the expected date to release outside China is not available as of now.
