OnePlus knows quite well how to remain the talk of the town throughout the year, either by launching a couple of flagships or goofing-up something. This time, thankfully, it’s a new flagship that will take the crown from the OnePlus 5, which is still not that old. OnePlus 5T is expected to bring some major changes that the original OnePlus 5 was much criticised for.

The company has already started to tease the phone on its social media accounts. OnePlus has also confirmed the name OnePlus 5T for the phone via an image that shows five cups of ‘tea’. Carl Pei and Pete Lau, the co-founders of OnePlus have also shared images on Twitter without naming the device which they were taken on. All this falls in line with the launch schedule of the OnePlus 3T that was announced in November last year.

Those images were possibly posted to showcase the camera prowess of the OnePlus 5T which will be a step up from the OnePlus 5. Some reports suggest that the OnePlus 5T will come with dual 20MP camera units on the back instead of 20MP+16MP setup on the current flagship. Other than this, there is no more detail of the camera available as of now.

For the internals, the OnePlus 5T should remain the same as the OnePlus 5. There shall be two variants with one having 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage while the other one having 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Snapdragon 835 processor will remain standard on both the variants of the phone. The only thing that shall improve on the inside is the battery that will now be of 3450mAh up from 3300mAh of the OnePlus 5.

This growth in the battery capacity of the phone is the result of a larger display that will be included in the OnePlus 5T. The Chinese manufacturer will be joining the trending bandwagon of including an 18:9 display with the OnePlus 5T. This mid-year upgrade is majorly for the 6-inch 18:9 FHD+ display that will bring the phone at par with other flagships that it competes with.

Evan Blass, better known as @evleaks, had also posted an image of the OnePlus 5T that confirms the presence of a larger display with thinner bezels on the OnePlus 5T. But the resolution of the display shall remain at 1080p and OnePlus might take some more time to come out with a phone sporting a quad HD display. Interestingly, the OnePlus 5T will be launched right after the Oppo R11s has been announced. Remember the Oppo R11 that was announced right before the OnePlus 5 and both of them looked a bit too similar? *wink, wink*

One more thing, as a result of the elongated display, the bezels will be narrowed quite a bit. This will leave no space for the fingerprint scanner that has been present on the OnePlus flagships for a really long time. A possible place for it is the back and the leaks also suggest this change.

The phone got listed on Oppo Mart with its pricing details and specifications. As per the listing, the OnePlus 5T will be available for $549 and this should be the starting price for the phone’s base variant. To remind you, the OnePlus 5 was launched for $479 for the 6GB variant. We are expecting OnePlus to announce the phone sometime in the second half of November.
