Sony seems to be all set to launch their next flagship for 2018, although, one may not take it as a good start since their smartphone lineup has already been leaked. Recently, a smartphone which is claimed to be the successor to the well-known Xperia XZ1 was spotted in the wild. Looking at the Xperia XZ2 leaks, it seems that the company wants to stick to its old yet good looking design which was spotted back in CES 2013 and since hasn’t changed a bit.
The model numbers of the so-called Xperia XZ2 were spotted to be H8116 and H8166 in a previous leak along with H8216, H8266, H8276, and H8296 in another one. The newest leak details the Sony H8216 model and claims that the phone would sport a 5.5-inch display up front with a 1080p resolution. There is a possibility that Sony may follow the trend of bezel-less designs especially because the dimension of the phone is mentioned to be exactly the same as Xperia XZ1, while the display is 0.3-inch larger.
Under the hood, the Sony XZ2 may be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage which may be expandable via microSD card. It will run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, as per the leaked documents. While the Xperia XZ2 will be IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, Sony could also bring out a dual-SIM variant of the phone.
The details of the device were posted on a Reddit thread by a user called ‘xperiNY1’ and hence we can’t totally rely on that leaks since it’s not coming from a reliable source, although, the same person had leaked details on a Sony smartphone a week or two ago.
As far as cameras are concerned, the device will sport a dual-camera setup at the rear with two 12-Megapixel sensors and to the front is a 15-Megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture. The Sony H8216 will include a decent sized 3130mAh battery and may also support Quick Charge. Reportedly, the device may have a micro USB instead of USB Type-C, however, there is a possibility that the leak isn’t accurate.
The official announcement from Sony is not yet made so we just need to sit tight for a couple of months when it’s most likely for them to make an announcement. What do you think of the Xperia XZ2? Do let us know in the comment section below.
