Vivo’s highly anticipated mid-range smartphone made an appearance on the company’s official store in India. The Vivo V9 is now listed on the Vivo India Store where all its detailed specifications have been confirmed. All the previous leaks said in unison about the device sporting a display notch and this listing validates their claim.
While pushing the display towards the edges, especially from the top, a notch becomes the only viable option to house the earpiece and camera sensor using the currently available technology. Famed by the iPhone X, the display notch has now made its way to a number of Android smartphones, and to the Vivo V9 too, in this case. As per the mentioned specifications, the phone’s IPS display measures 6.3 inches with a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels in an unconventional 19:9 aspect ratio.
On the back, its two cameras can be seen placed vertically with an LED flash below them. The fingerprint scanner is there in the centre, right above the Vivo branding. The primary camera of the two has a 16MP sensor while the secondary unit has a 5MP sensor. Vivo is bringing AI based capabilities to the cameras along with support for AR stickers and 4K video recording. The one on the front can take selfies of 24MP resolution while the phone retains its 3.5mm headphone jack and includes a micro-USB port.
Against the leaks suggesting the inclusion of Snapdragon 660 processor, the Vivo V9 is listed here with Snapdragon 626 processor. This is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Interestingly, the handset will come running Android 8.1 Oreo with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 4.0 along with a battery of 3260mAh. There are dedicated slots for two SIM cards and a microSD card and the phone is listed in Black and Gold colour options.

Vivo was earlier expected to announce the Vivo V9 on March 27 in India but according to the recent reports, the launch has been preponed to March 23. The placeholder price in the store listing is ₹10,000,000, which is nowhere close to what’s called the mid-range segment. The Vivo V7+ launched last year was priced at ₹21,990 and its successor could be priced a little higher. Its official launch will provide the information that isn’t available yet.
