You might not even remember Google’s Android One project, which they launched to bring the premium Android atmosphere experience to the entry level smartphones. For quite some time, we haven’t heard of anything about it.
Nevertheless, the search engine titan hasn’t left it behind. The recent reports point to the possibility of collaboration between Google and Xiaomi to produce a new Android One device.
Xiaomi and Google Join their Hands Together for a New Android One Smartphone
We already saw some smartphones under the banner of Android One. The Google CEO, Sundar Pichai himself explained the benefits of using an Android One smartphone. But they couldn’t really pull it off.
With Xiaomi entering into Android One, we hope the platform will attract more and more users. According to the leaks, the new one would resemble Mi 5X. Most probably, they will go with the name Xiaomi A1.
What impact does the partnership with Google make on the smartphone? Well, it seems like Xiaomi is not going to include their MIUI on it. The users can enjoy the stock Android experience. Moreover, the updates won’t take much time to reach the devices as well.
Mi 5X sports a 5.5-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 625 processor, and 4GB of RAM. We expect they would not make many changes to the specs when it comes to Xiaomi A1.
Entry level smartphones are popular in markets like Indonesia. So, there is a chance for the company to launch the device in such a market and then bring it to others.
As per the information we got, the price will not go beyond $250. When we compare the price with other Android One smartphones in the past, it might feel a bit expensive. Nonetheless, we hope Google can bring the platform to popularity given the Xiaomi’s arrival.
